It finally happened. After being announced back at E3 2015 during the Sony PlayStation press conference, the highly fan-requested and much-anticipated Final Fantasy VII Remake was released in 2020. Cloud, Barrett, Tifa, and Aerith made their grand return in a new and improved rendition of the classic 1997 RPG. This storied remake matched fan expectations and even superseded them with an ending that completely caught them all off guard. The theme of "defying fate" immediately comes to mind when one thinks of Sephiroth's puzzling dialogue throughout the remake and the extra cutscenes that emerged at the end of the game & its Yuffie-focused Episode INTERmission DLC. Now the second leg of Cloud and his party's epic journey is finally set to release in 2024 as Square drops one of the biggest RPGs of the year with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Join us as we take a look at the game's release date, storyline, gameplay enhancements, and so much more.

Three physical editions of the game will be available for pre-order - the Standard Edition, the Deluxe Edition, and the Collector's Edition. The digital versions of Rebirth are the Standard Edition and the Digital Deluxe Edition. The Standard Edition comes with just a digital version of the game. The Digital Deluxe Edition comes with the game, a digital mini soundtrack, a digital art book, the "Magic Pot Summoning Materia," the "Reclaimant Choker" accessory, and the "Orchid Bracelet" armor. Regarding pre-order bonuses, the main one available for every available edition of Rebirth is the "Midgar Bangle Mk. II" bracelet accessory.

Now let's detail everything that comes in Rebirth's physical editions. The Standard Edition of the game will just come with a physical version of the game itself. As for the Deluxe Edition, recipients will receive a physical version of the game, a physical art book, a physical mini soundtrack, and a special steelbook case. The Collector's Edition (which is a Square Enix store online exclusive) comes with everything featured in the Deluxe Edition plus the following extra goodies: a Static Arts figurine of Sephiroth, the "Moogle Trio Summoning Materia," the Magic Pot Summoning Materia, the Reclaimant Choker accessory, and the Orchid Bracelet armor.

It's worth noting that if you still have PS4/PS5 save data from Final Fantasy VII Remake and its Episode INTERmission expansion, you'll get access to the following summons - Leviathan for Remake save data users and Ramuh for INTERmission save data users. Of course, both pieces of that save data must be contained on the PS5. Also, keep in mind that Rebirh will physically come across two discs.

Rebirth's cast of playable characters features Cloud, Barrett, Tifa, Aerith, and finally, Red XIII, who was originally a non-playable member of the part during Remake. Sephiroth will also be playable during a flashback sequence where he, Cloud, and Tifa make their way up Mt. Nibel. Vincent will also make an appearance in Rebirth but will be featured in a non-playable role the same way Red XIII was back in Remake. In regards to Red XIII, the anthropomorphic character hailing from "Red Canyon" relies on signature battle abilities such as the "Sidewinder," "Sentinel Stance," "Sentinel Stance," and "Crescent Claw." As far as "Limit Break" attacks go, Red XIII can rely on pulling off the special moves known as "Bloodfang" and "Howling Moon." Red XIII can tap into "Vengeance Mode" to boost his speed and attack stats.
