Will Smith gets “comfortable being uncomfortable” as he quickly trains to run a half marathon—13.1 miles—during the latest episode of Will Smith’s Bucket List on Facebook Watch, the social network’s video-on-demand platform. “I think of all the bucket lists this is the one I’m most concerned about. Like in my deepest honesty with myself, I really am not sure if I can run 13 miles,” the 50-year-old entertainer admits.
Smith’s goal is to complete the race in Cuba in under 2 hours 10 minutes with only three weeks of training, in part, to honor his dad.
“My father died about a year and a half ago, and it didn’t hit me so much emotionally as it hit me existentially. It was like, ‘Oh sh*t, I’m next,’” Smith says. “In terms of pushing my body, I want to keep my body conditioned, and more than anything I want to keep my mind strong. It’s like I can do anything, like there is nothing I can’t do.”
