"I'm the boss, Applesauce," once proclaimed Judge Judy Sheindlin, who eats liars for breakfast and makes bank doing so as the host of her Emmy award-winning courtroom show Judge Judy.
Many ONE37pm followers were surprised to learn Judge Judy was ranked No. 4 on Forbes' annual #Celeb100 list of highest-paid stars, only behind Floyd Mayweather, George Clooney and Kylie Jenner.
How did she do it? Well, to start, Judge Judy has aired more than 6,000 episodes in 22 seasons since 1996. The show will contractually continue airing until 2021 with the possibility for renewal, particularly since she's won three Daytime Emmys in the past five years. According to Forbes, she earns a hefty $47 million a year, pretax, as the host. And for roughly $100 million in 2017, she sold the rights to her back catalog, catapulting her up in the rankings this year. She's also the creator of another courtroom show titled Hot Bench, which is in its fourth season.
To Judge Judy's well-deserved credit, she ranked ahead of 12 other high-profile women in this year's top 100, including Ellen DeGeneres (at No. 15), Katy Perry (19), Taylor Swift (21), Kim Kardashian West (30), Beyoncé (35), J.K. Rowling (42), Pink (45), Lady Gaga (49), Jennifer Lopez (53), Sofía Vergara (68), Scarlett Johansson (76) and Rihanna (84). Along with Kylie Jenner, these 14 personalities are holding it down for the women on Forbes' #Celeb100.
