There are various metaverse worlds that currently exist, but there’s one, in particular, that is making good use of your 2D pixelated NFTs.

The Worldwide Webb is an MMORPG metaverse game created by Thomas Webb that allows players to use their NFTs as in-game avatars and pets. Additionally, you can buy and build land and consumables using in-game currency, and go on exciting quests.

The game is said to be heavily inspired by 'Ready Player One', and aims to provide utility to other NFT projects through its virtual world.

Let's further explore what Worldwide Webb is, and what the future of this metaverse game has in store for its players.

What is the Worldwide Webb?

You may think you know what the Worldwide Webb is right? I mean, we use it every day. However, this Worldwide Webb is far different than what you are used to and it definitely isn’t what most people think of when they hear the term metaverse.

Worldwide Webb is actually an MMORPG metaverse game that can be played using pixelated NFTs from your personal collection. As a player, you have the ability to build and create your own community within the world, this includes building your own structures.

Because the game utilizes 2D pixelated NFTs for avatars and pets, the integration process for adding a new NFT collection is extremely quick. One of the goals of the integration of various NFT projects is to form stronger relationships with existing NFT communities and expand the game’s player base.

Some notable NFT collections are already integrated into the Worldwide Webb including CryptoPunks, Bored Ape Yacht Club, Cool Cats, and Wolf Game just to name a few. You can view all the integrated NFT projects here.

Worldwide Webb also intends to integrate more collections via special collaborations which will feature dedicated buildings, community events, and even project-specific quests.

How to play Worldwide Webb

To play Worldwide Webb simply go to the site. Then, you can either play as a generic avatar without connecting your wallet, or you can connect your Metamask wallet and reap the full benefits of the game.

If you connect your wallet, you will have to sign a transaction to authorize the connection. Connecting your wallet also allows you to continue your game progress across your devices.

The game starts out similar to Pokemon on the GameBoy. You get to choose from three currencies, your options being Bitcoin, ETH, or Cash. After choosing your preferred currency, you venture out on your journey to explore the rest of the Worldwide Webb.

Roadmap plans

The game has already come a long way, but as they move forward Worldwide Webb plans to continue expanding. Future plans according to their Roadmap include:
