Calvin Klein feels almost taken for granted in the past couple decades as a casual style brand, but they continue to make the great denim that popularized their name in the 90’s. If you are searching for an effortless, slouchy fit, CK's wide selection of washes still firmly cements them as one of the best denim brands on the market.

Levi's

Best Americana Denim Brand

Levi’s is the quintessential denim brand, and is near ubiquitous when it comes to blue jeans. While standard Levi’s are great jeans whether you get them new from the store or thrifted from just about anywhere, their Made and Crafted line aims specifically to create future archival pieces for the brand, meaning there is often something a little extra special in each design. While their silhouettes are often vintage inspired and give a nod to the label’s storied past, they are always created with the modern customer in mind. A list of the best denim brands without Levi's would be heresy.

Naked & Famous has been a big name on campus for the denim obsessed forever now, and with good reason: they are singularly devoted to quality. Raw denim has the ability to fade over time in a way that makes it truly unique to the wearer, which is why this brand stands by only producing nothing else. While these guys are serious about quality, that doesn’t mean they don’t have a sense of humor, evident by their recent collaborations with Rick & Morty and classic horror flicks. They’ve also made some crazy experimental jeans in the past, like glow in the dark or scratch-n-sniff denim.

Things to look at in a jeans brand:

Here are some things to look for in a jeans brand:

Quality: For the most part jeans are viewed investment pieces, which is why most are willing to pay a higher upfront cost for them as a good pair can last you decades. The ability for a pair of jeans to last a long time, however, is their quality. What you want in a pair of jeans is durability, sturdiness, and longevity. You can also look at the customer reviews of those who have purchased to see their experiences with the jeans you're considering buying.

Price: You'll also need to keep in mind your budget and what you're willing to spend. While it's not necessarily the case that less expensive jeans equals less quality, if you are spending more than a couple hundred dollars than it's considered an investment. As with everything, you'll need to factor how much you're willing to spend before researching which jeans you want to buy.

Sizing: You'll also need to consider the sizing the brand offers. Most brands give you a variety of waist and inseam measurements to choose from with their jean offerings, but some give you a sliding scale along the lines of XS to XXL (with some going above or below). You can always read through the user reviews to see how the product fits before investing your money.
