Looks like we’re getting a little bit of 1970s fashion in before the 70s installment of our Fashion On Film Series. With NYFW officially kicking off next week, we’re bringing you Midnight Studios latest collection, “Candy Darling” which is available starting tomorrow.

Inspiration for this collection stems from the 1970s era of Warhol superstars and the Silver Factory, which can be seen in man y aspects of the garments. The denim suit is treated with washes and foils in addition to the Brooklyn Box Trunk as seen on Madonna debuting in a silver leather.

The capsule includes many retro pieces that are sure to up the funk level in your closet, including Faux fur crossbody bags in the shape of a vinyl record and a matching leather set with lace overlay detailing paying homage to the brand’s rock ‘n roll roots along with a three piece set, inclusive of a trench, kilt, and trousers made from Italian tweed.

Basics in the collection take on new motifs, consisting of cotton jersey tank tops with star snap epaulets and iconic images of Lou Reid; rib knit crewneck t-shirts are printed with flocked Candy Darling graphic logos and woven Midnight Studios tag detailing at shoulder-seams, which is actually pretty cool.

A standout piece found in the collection is the headphone hoodie, designed to fit over ear headphones in pockets on either side of the hood.

The headphone hoodie could definitely be considered the modern day version of walking around with a boombox, and simultaneously serves as a “tech earmuff” for those cooler winter days that will be approaching sooner rather than later.
