The Top Sneaker Drops You Need to Know This Week
A look at this week’s most anticipated sneaker releases
Nike Air Max 97 “Atmosphere Grey”
Release date: September 25
Price: $170
This isn’t the first time that Nike has applied a very visible theme to a silhouette. Originally released in 1997, the aptly named Nike Air Max 97 “Atmosphere Grey” had a strikingly noticeable theme: The Nintendo 64 gaming console. Sharing the same color scheme, Nintendo and Nike Air enthusiasts alike gravitated to the Air Max 97 when it originally released over two decades ago.
For this retro drop, The Nike Air Max 97 is given bold pops of color to complement the upper, tongue and air unit sole. With five different lacing options, this Air Max 97 is all about fun. As this sneaker is a cross between gamer nostalgia and sneakerhead culture, it will be no surprise if they sell out immediately.
Adidas Originals by OAMC Type O-1
Release date: September 27
Price: $280
Adidas Originals taps Parisian Label OAMC for their first collaboration. First seen on the runway during this year’s Paris Fashion Week, Adidas Originals and the menswear label OAMC have come together to reimagine three of the brand’s iconic silhouettes. OAMC’s Creative Director, Luke Meier, has created variations on timeless three-stripes designs, with the first iteration named Type O-1.
The shoe is coming in two colorways: “Type O-1L”—an off-white near eggshell tone—and the “Type O-1S” Supplier Colour—which appears to be a peach hue. This forward-thinking design is a new take and refreshing look at new Adidas collaborations and we can’t wait to see more of the OAMC collection.
Adidas Yeezy Boost 700v2 “Hospital Blue”
Release date: September 28
Price: $300
Kanye West’s “Jesus is King” album will release on September 27, according to his wife Kim Kardashian West’s Instagram Story. The following day, Adidas is unveiling a new version of the Adidas Yeezy Boost 700v2. Named “Hospital Blue,” this completely tonal approach to the Yeezy series seems to be the new norm.
Releases of the Adidas Yeezy Boosts are getting more and more frequent. With various colorways and versions available at many brick and mortar stores and online retailers, be sure to set an alarm if you plan on copping a pair.
Bodega x New Balance 997s “No Bad Days”
Release date: September 28
Price: $200
Boston based sneaker boutique Bodega has teamed up with New Balance yet again for the release of the 997s silhouette titled “No Bad Days.” This collaboration is a sequel to the success of the previously released “No Days Off.” The basic construction remains the same with mesh uppers, leather and suede overlays, a neoprene bootie, dual ABZORB and ENCAP cushioning and a laminate heel counter remain from the previous version.
New Balance is definitely having a big year, as its list of collaborations and celebrity brand ambassadors continues to grow. Don’t miss out on the new wave of dad shoes that everyone can’t stop talking about.
