The Top Sneaker Drops You Need to Know This Week
A look at this week’s most anticipated sneaker releases
Air Jordan VIII “Orbit”
Release date: September 18
Price: $225
Released originally in 1993, the Air Jordan VIII was one of the few Jordans designed by Tinker Hatfield that did not feature Nike branding. The Chicago Bulls claimed their third straight championship and Jordan was awarded Finals MVP for 3 consecutive seasons, creating the legendary Three-peat. Maybe the most popular of the Jordan VIIIs—Bulls "Home," All-Star "Aqua" and Bulls "Playoff" editions—this is a new take on the timeless model.
Fans of the Air Jordan VIII get a completely new colorway, nicknamed Orbit, this week. Featuring a bold, strapped-up design and a chenille tongue graphic true to its original form, the sneaker gets a unique 90s-inspired pop of red, blue and yellow across the AJ VIII’s transparent cross-straps and heel counter. This is definitely a fun twist on a classic silhouette, and we can’t wait to see them hit the streets.
Herschel x New Balance 801
Release date: September 19
Price: To be announced
This week, Herschel Supply drops its third collaboration with New Balance. Just in time for the fall season, Herschel reimagines the popular New Balance 801 trail-inspired silhouette first released in 1998. Available in three distinct and contrasting colorways—Night Lites, Rock and Cement—the 801 is outfitted with the brand’s Abzorb midsole, which provides cushioning and support for any terrain. Each sneaker is also detailed with “All Terrain” embroidery at the heel counter and reflective accents at the collar, eyelet webbing and laces.
Along with the release of the New Balance 801, co-branded Herschel Supply and New Balance apparel that includes an anorak, long-sleeve tee and crossbody bag will be released. As if this capsule collection couldn’t get any better...
Air Jordan XII “Game Royal”
Release date: September 21
Price: $190
Many Michael Jordan fans will either remember or will have looked up the epic words “Flu Game.” Odds are, you will have seen a historic photo of MJ in a near-defeated, head-down crouching stance wearing a pair of the Air Jordan XIIs. Fighting not only the flu but also the Utah Jazz on a Game 5 NBA Finals, winning the game would push Jordan into the realm of legendary.
Remastered with genuine tumbled leather and suede color blocking reminiscent of the 'Flu Game' Air Jordan XII—now in a gorgeous game royal blue—this Air Jordan XII has a message embroidered on the heel tab that reads: “QUALITY INSPIRED BY THE GREATEST PLAYER EVER.” How can you not add this to your collection this weekend?
Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2
Release date: September 21
Price: $220
Kanye West continues to fulfill his promise of this sentiment he said in 2015: “Eventually, everyone who wants Yeezys will get Yeezys.” For the past few months now, Adidas and Ye have been dropping Yeezys week after week, and that streak continues with the release of the Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 “Cloud White” colorway.
For those not into the “Cloud White” colorway on Monday, September 23, the “Citrin” colorway will be releasing globally in a full size run. The Citrin is a multi-tone, almost hazelnut cream color with a gum bottle boost sole. Be quick, because even though the Yeezy models are releasing more frequently, they are still limited in quantity and often sell out in mere hours.
