'Just Dance 2023' is the Latest TikTok Challenge Taking Over the App

Wait a minute. You thought you left Just Dance behind in the early 2010s didn’t you? Well, just because you quit playing a while ago doesn’t mean that others haven’t gotten in on the action. Over the past several months, there’s been an on-going trend of creators making videos of themselves playing dance video games. Some of these creators have taken to playing older games such as Dance Central and The Hip Hop Dance experience from years ago, while others have gotten in on the Just Dance challenge. Unlike those other games, Just Dance is still regularly releasing new versions each year, and is currently experiencing a resurgence in popularity thanks to the app. As always, we’re going to give you a little background info on the game, and show you how you can take part in this challenge.

Just Dance History

Just Dance is a video game dance series developed by Ubisoft and released on the Wii in 2009. Similar to other dance games, you follow along with an on-screen dancer to different tunes, and you are given ranks depending upon how you perform. The original versions can be played with up to six players at a time, with more recent editions allowing up to four players at a time. The first Just Dance was released on November 17th, 2009, and featured songs by MC Hammer, Elvis Presley, Iggy Pop, Baha Men, Gorillaz, Spice Girls, and more.

Alright, here’s how you get in. All you have to do is record yourself playing the game and upload to your personal TikTok. If you don’t own a console or Just Dance 2023, then you can possibly make a duet with somebody where you do the dance with them (it should be a video where you can also see the game screen).
