Season 2 of Rap Sh!t, Issa Rae's heavily anticipated series on Max, is finally making it's premiere tonight after experiencing a delay from its original season debut date in August. Loaded with an equal balance of humor and drama thanks to its awesome writing, it didn't take long for Rap Sh!t to captivate the world when the show dropped last summer, and now the gang is back for round two. The series tells the tale of Shawna (Aida Osman) and Mia (KaMillion), two estranged high school friends, who reconnect and decide they are going to pursue a rap career together. Along the way, the duo encounters certain obstacles such as authenticity in the entertainment career and whether or not it's best to stay true to their original style and roots or switch it up for what's considered to be more "mainstream", along with romance, and criminal activities that has Shawna stuck in a legal jam. Beginning tonight, the answers to the questions season 1 left us with will start to get answered, and if the season 2 trailer is any indication, we'll be getting "seduced and schemed" even more. As we approach a new chapter, here's a look at the cast of the show.
Shawna Clark
Played by: Aida Osman
Aida Osman takes on the roll of Shawna Clark, a burgeoning rapper working at a hotel. Shawna's "activities" at the hotel are what's gotten her in legal trouble for credit card fraud, so we'll have to see how that plays out this season. Troubles aside, Shawna is a ferocious rapper and arguably the creative mastermind of the group.
Mia Knight
Played by: KaMillion
Rapper, singer, songwriter, and actress KaMillion portrays Mia Knight who is balancing the role of being a single mother working multiple jobs as she pursues her rap dreams with Shawna. Mia is vivacious, full of life, and lyrically inclined, bringing her own creativity and talent to the group.
Maurice
Played by: Daniel Augustin
Daniel Augustine, a relatively newcomer in the acting space, takes on the role of Shawna's co-worker at the hotel Maurice. Maurice is super funny and will have you laughing thanks to his wit and many facial expressions.
Chastity
Jonica Booth
Jonica Booth is the mysterious but not-so-mysterious Chastity, who's got her hands full as a party promoter known as ""The Duke of Miami" while also managing a group of sex workers. Her attitude can get bad if she thinks you're trying her or if you're all up in her business, but otherwise she's cool.
Lamont
Played by: RJ Cyler
RJ Cyler (Scream: Resurrection) stars as an aspiring producer named Lamont, who has a clear ear for music and talent. Lamont is also the father of Mia's daughter, and they've had their ups and downs as a couple/former couple to say the least.
Cliff Lewis
Devon Terrell
Devon Terrell (Barry) is a law student in New York that is also Shawna's long-distance boyfriend.
Season 2 of Rap Sh!t makes its premiere tonight via Max.
